Memory like an elephant!
Every night Kiran gets bedtime stories from me and Nishu. Usually stories that we've made up with Kiran's help along the way. Lately his favorite "mama story" is a very silly story about a very hungry gorilla. He often makes up funny names for the gorilla...Bubba, No-name, Pillow, Desk, etc. Most days he just looks around the room to come up with a name. In the story the hungry Gorilla isn't hungry for real food, he wants to eat cars and then has to buy new cars for all the poor people whose cars he's eaten. He's a goofy kid! Anyway, tonight as I was starting the story he made sure to clarify that No-name was a friendly gorilla, "He doesn't eat people. Only scary animals eat people...like lions." Then he proceeded to ask me if I remembered when we saw lions at the zoo, "Remember, when we were with Dadi? She was so scared...but we took care of her."
We've been to the zoo dozens of times and seen the lions on most of those trips. We've only been once with Dadi and it was quite a while ago. Sometimes I really wonder where these random thoughts come from. But it's always fun to listen to the stories he remembers.

Advice from the Elders
About a week or so ago, Kiran had a mailbox full of papers at daycare. There was a copy of the letter that his new preschool teacher (he'll be there full time beginning June 1) wrote to her students/parents. It was wonderful and really conveyed the wonderful atmosphere in her classroom. In addition, she had the current students, who Kiran will be joining, draw pictures and send some words of advice to the new students. Their teacher wrote their advice next to each picture. So, we have this nice little booklet of drawing and advice from Kiran's new classmates. It's priceless! Here's what they had to say:
Be careful with books.
Don't put lollipop sticks in your tooth.
Be nice to your friends.
It's only okay to scream and jump outside.
If someone says something you don't like, Just tell them "I don't like it, please stop."
Don't go out when it rains.
Be kind to your friends.
Rocks are not for throwing.
Don't laugh when you're eating or the food will fall out of your mouth.
Don't kick sand. Sand hurts our eyes.
Chew with your mouth closed.
Talk to your friends.
Cough into your elbow.
Say, "Can I have that when you're finished?"
Take good care of your friends.

First visit to preschool
Kiran's class began their transition to preschool today. The preschool is located right behind the daycare, so they just walked up the hill to test out their new school. They won't be there full-time until June, but it was awfully exciting to visit! His teachers are so great and they sent lots of pictures. Here are a few that didn't have other kids in them.

A couple more baseball pics
Saturday in Indy & Indians Baseball Game
We spent the day up in Indianapolis on Saturday. The weather forecast predicted a cloudy day with a high in the 50s...It was sunny and beautiful and in the 70s. We did a little shopping, wandered around downtown and then took sandwiches to the Indians game. It was lots of fun!

Classic Kiran...not really much going on in this video. But Kiran just bites it at the end as he does all too often!
Watching Alvin & the Chipmunks on the way up.
Testing out his new goggles!

Playing Hard Rock Cafe
Last night Kiran decided it would be fun to play "Hard Rock Cafe." So, he brought in a chair and made a little table, used his Turtle magazine as a menu, and pretended he was a waiter, taking orders with his guitar pen. It was pretty fun!! Oh, and he had taken his shirt off at dinner (who knows why??), so this was all done shirtless.
