Night One...success!!

Kiran has been a rock star when it comes to potty training. He just decided at 2 1/2 that he was done with diapers. He told his daycare teacher, "I'm a big boy now, no more diapers" and we never looked back. He's had only a handful of accidents...we're very proud of him. Well, nighttime has been a different story! He's been wearing pullups at night since then and wakes up wet almost every morning. In part, I blame myself for this...I'm lazy. I haven't had the emotional strength to enforce a "no drinks after dinner" rule (he sleeps with a water cup next to his bed) and, quite honestly, just dread changing wet sheets in the middle of the night.

This past weekend we decided to take the plunge. We talked it up to Kiran all weekend...how big boys don't wear pullups at night...Papa doesn't wear a pullup...and that it meant no more cup of water next to his bed. Sunday night was a big "last hoorah!" to pullups and last night was his first night sleeping in underwear. He had a rough time going to bed without his water cup. I let him have one small drink, but he was still very sad about it. Nishu told him a bedtime story about being a big boy...and he went to sleep like a champ. I took him potty at midnight when I went to bed as an added safeguard. Well, at 12:30am I heard him calling me, "Mama...mama, I'm thirsty!" So, again, I let him have one small drink and it was right back to sleep....until 7:45am!! I woke up to Kiran, who had gotten up and turned his amp on, playing his guitar! Silly guy didn't call me, didn't go potty...he just started rockin'! I'm so proud of our big boy. Let's hope this is the start of a trend!
