School Holiday Concert

Kiran's school put on a holiday program last week with the theme, "'Twas the night before Christmas". So, everyone came in their jammies. It was incredibly cute and a fun night. Kiran's class sang 2 songs, "I heard a reindeer hoof" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". The whole school also sang a song together at the the end, "We wish you a Merry Christmas." Kiran had been practicing for weeks and did really well, even with all the gestures that accompanied the lyrics. If you haven't heard "I heard a reindeer hoof" you have to take a look at the lyrics. It could be the funniest christmas song I've heard! It's sung to the tune of jingle bells:

I heard a reindeer hoof, then Santa dressed in red,
came crashing through the roof and landed on my bed.
I thought it was a dream, but quickly did I wake,
as soon as I heard Santa scream, "I want a piece of cake!"
CHORUS
Oh, Santa Claus, Santa Claus, you are much too fat;
I was sleeping peacefully but now my bed is flat. Oh!
Santa Claus, Santa Claus, how much do you weigh?
I'm glad I'm not a reindeer that has to pull your sleigh!
He got up off the floor and said, "how do you do?"
I said, "My back is sore, my head is black and blue."
"So sorry!" he replied, and then he asked my name.
He offered me a ride, I said, "No, thank you just the same!"
CHORUS
I heard a "ho, ho, ho" the sleight was in the sky,
but it was moving slow and wasn't very high.
It wobbled in the air, I hoped it wouldn't fall;
Said Santa, chewing cookies, "Merry Christmas, one and all!"
CHORUS

The Polar Express

We took a train ride to the North Pole on the Polar Express last night. It was a chilly, rainy night but fun anyway! Kiran was so excited to see Santa and the North Pole. There was guitar playing and singing of christmas songs on the train ride and when we arrived at the North Pole both Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus came on the train with a gift for each child. We stayed warm with hot chocolate and cookies...it was a really nice night!

Visiting Santa Claus

We took Kiran to Bass Proshop to see Santa last weekend...I know, it seems like an odd place to go to see Santa, but they have the coolest set up. They have tables set up with different craft projects (Kiran made some reindeer antlers for himself), boats out that the kids can explore, and tables with remote control cars, racetracks, etc. to play with. Not to mention, a very cool Santa display...and it's all free - even a picture! Needless to say, Kiran had a blast.

St. Nick!

St. Nick always comes the night of December 6th. We leaves shoes out by the front door and sometime during the night, good ol' St. Nicholas comes and fills them with goodies.

The Christmas Tree

Kiran helped put up the big tree and some smaller trees around the house last weekend. He had a lot of fun...both decorating and being goofy!!
He decorated a little tree in the family room all by himself. He also has his own tree in his room with cute little mini-ornaments.

He took great care in putting the ornaments on just right. Although, I have to admit that I may have rearranged a bit after he went to bed. There were ornaments all clumped in one spot with the rest of the tree bare!
He enjoyed getting his rocker nutcracker out, too.
And then he got goofy. He took my stocking from when I was a kid and tried wearing it...both legs in one stocking. Fortunately, he didn't get hurt!
And, of course, there was guitar playing and singing with papa! It always puts smiles this big on both of their faces. Priceless!

Go Badgers!

A couple of weekends ago, the Badgers played the Northwestern Wildcats in Evanston. We took advantage of being relatively close and took Kiran to the game. It's quite a different environment than Madison...there's not much school spirit in Evanston. In fact, there was SO much red and white that as we were walking around the stadium Kiran was pointing out anybody wearing purple. Despite being the home team they were definitely in the minority. Unfortunately, the Badgers didn't come away with a win...but we had fun anyway. And Kiran got a fist bump from a Badger football player and a high-five from Bucky!

FOUR years old!!

While most of the birthday festivities took place the weekend before Kiran's birthday, we saved our presents for him for the day of his birthday. It was a fun day. He opened presents and we took him to dinner at the restaurant of his choosing...I can't believe our baby boy is four!!

Fun with new toys

There were so many gifts to bring back home with us that we didn't have room for them all. Lucky for Kiran, Nana (my dad) has been working just a few miles from our house, so he loaded his car up and dropped of the presents that we couldn't fit in our car a few days later. Kiran had a blast digging into the new presents. He has had so much fun with his new "recording studio", drums, and remote control hummer!
